Sluggers and Putters is a family fun park located in Canal Fulton, Ohio in Stark County. The attractions include miniature golf, bumper boats and cars, go-karts, batting cages, a walk wall and so much more.
The Canton Arts district has really started to grow in the past few years. it includes 7 Galleries, 22 artist studios, 5 live music venues, specialty shops, fine restaurants, hot bars, and unique public art. First Friday is a monthly party on the first Friday of every month in the downtown Canton arts district area. Each monthly usually has a theme and offers activities for kids and adults. The event is family friendly with music, self guided tours of the area, and surprises each month.
Hartville is a charming small town located in Stark County, Ohio with lots of unique little shops and places to dine. The Hartville Marketplace offers a 12 acre outdoor traditional flea market plus a huge indoor venue with shops and dining also. A whole day can be spent browsing through the treasures located at this unique destination in Hartville.
Baylor Beach has a 2 acre water park with a large gently sloping sand bottom lake fully equipped with slides and fun water toys for kids both big and small. The park also offers pavilions for picnics, a concession stand for refreshments, and camping. Located just outside of Navarre in the southwestern portion of Stark County, the gateway to Amish Country.
Stark County is known as the gateway to Amish country, where the largest population of Amish people in the world reside. Heading down Route 62 through Wilmot you’ll find the Amish Door Restaurant & Village, Gateway Wines and much more.
Stark County Ohio History
The McKinley Monument is the final resting place for the 25th President of the United States, William McKinley. Beside the monument is a museum that offers a fun and educational section for kids called Discovery World, Street of Shops which offers life size replica of a historic town complete with a blacksmith and barber shop, and of course there’s much more worth checking out.
The Ohio & Erie Canalway is what is known as a National Heritage Area . It was designated as such by Congress to help preserve and celebrate the rails, trails, landscapes, towns and sites that are situated along the first 110 miles of the canal, which helped Ohio grow in its early days. The canalway offers so many recreational opportunities for people of all ages including biking, hiking, bird watching, photography, and questing.
Here in Stark County, we have two main canalway points of interest. The first is in Canal Fulton at the Canalway Center at St. Helena Heritage Park. Visitors can take a trip back in time during a canal boat ride aboard the St. Helena III. The second is the Ohio & Erie Canalway Visitor’s Center located on Lake Ave.
Located in Massillon, Spring Hill Farm was a safe haven for slaves traveling along the underground railroad. Tours of the home are offered along with special events throughout the year.
